iOM successfully implemented HR Pro 2e HRIS cloud suite for one of the largest conglomerates in Philippines. PHINMA has been serving multiple industries in sectors such as Housing, Energy, Finance, as well as Construction. Its subsidiaries Union Galvasteel Corporation (UGC), Philcement Corporation, and Phinma Solar Energy Corporation (Construction Management Group) depend on HR Pro 2e a fully-fledged Human Capital Management (HCM) application on a SaaS model to streamline all HR, Time Keeping and Payroll operations in support of rapid business growth.

The Challenge

In the formative years, Payroll Processing and Timekeeping was done manually for most of the PHINMA subsidiaries. The initial phase was to introduce a state-of-the-art HRIS for the PHINMA – Constructions Materials Group (CMG).

The PHINMA Construction Materials Group (CMG) was created in 2018 to bring together the various PHINMA companies involved in the manufacture and distribution of construction materials and services.

The President and CEO of PHINMA CMG, Mr. Eduardo A. Sahagun, who is passionately driven to improve all the existing operational processes of the Constructions Materials Group has mandated Ms. Ellen Bernardo (former VP-Human Resources) and Mr. Jouie Natividad (MIS Head) to source out and select a suitable HRIS Application to be implemented in the group that would eventually automate timekeeping and payroll. On top of this, a very important element mandated by the President is to ensure the integrity of the employee master data using a system which is fully compliant with the Data Privacy Act of 2012.     

Why HR Pro 2e

In the year 2019, the PHINMA CMG project stakeholders have decided to implement HR PRO 2e to address the challenges of the current HR and Payroll Team. iOM Philippines Inc., have implemented the system using the tried and tested methodology to ensure that HR PRO 2e is configured and setup based on the requirements of the CMG Project team. The Key User Trainings also proved to be very effective as the project team was able to identify the Module Champions per location who are capable of transferring the system knowledge to the end users and provide retraining whenever needed. This implementation also paved the way for CMG to implement new Time Recording Devices fully integrated with HR PRO 2e to ensure automated extraction and processing of employee logins and logouts. The dedicated team of CMG and the continuous support and push from the project stakeholders proved to be the key factors for the successful implementation of HR PRO 2e for CMG. With the full drive and engagement of the HR and IT teams, HR PRO 2e has been live since October 2020.

Results and Benefits

With HR PRO 2e in place to automate the timekeeping process and Payroll Execution, the CMG team was able to drive and implement a structured and fully efficient Work Instructions for all employees to follow and comply with the established timekeeping cutoff and scheduled payouts. In fact, since the live run of HR PRO 2e, all Payouts have been credited in advance as per scheduled Payouts.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the system has also been used by CMG to extend financial support to all their employees via HR PRO 2e Payroll’s Special Runs. All scheduled Merit Increases and Variable Pay Incentives have been fully automated using the standard HR PRO 2e Merit Increase and Bonus run functionality.
