iOM Software Development Skills

Having weathered the changes facing the IT industry since 1979, iOM is one of the longest established software companies in Asia. With our global network of offices, iOM has a unique advantage in that it can mobilize resources across geographically dispersed locations rapidly with very effective results.

Our unique strength emanates from the ability to deliver all components of the e-business cycle, from design through to development, delivery and maintenance services in all software projects we undertake.

iOM's Methodology
Proven development methodologies are used by our software developers and IT consultants ensuring that the full software development cycle is done professionally, adhering to strict guidelines. Our methodology has been ISO 9001 certified since 1994, when we became Asia's pioneering IT company's to receive this accreditation. At iOM we use the following two methodologies when developing a solution.

  • Object Oriented Analysis, Design & Development - OOAD/UML.

  • SSADM (Structured Systems Analysis & Design Method

iOM's Commitment to Quality
iOM Development Center was the first software development house in Asia to be awarded with the prestigious ISO 9001 quality standards award in 1994. The center has been successfully Re-Certified for 7 consecutive years. In gaining ISO certification, iOM is pursuing another major goal, which is particularly important to the company's ethos - the sustained improvement in customer service.

iOM's Post Implementation Support
ISC - the International Support Center is iOM's 24x7 technical help desk. iOM customers can now report questions and problems over the web at any time, irrespective of their location. The system allows customers to attach error reports and other relevant files to facilitate faster problem resolution. The customer can view the progress and attention given to the problem using this system.

iOM Focuses on Two types of Implementation:
On Site Development
Off Site Development

On Site Development
On-site development is where iOM staff work at client sites. iOM has deployed staff from our Asian Development Centers to countries such as United States, United Kingdom, Hungary, France, Switzerland, Seychelles, Germany and Portugal. This method benefits projects that need intense interaction between the related parties as well as when a high level of integration is needed between the live and development environments.

Off Site Development
Off-site development refers to development that takes place within iOM premises. Software teams may collaborate amongst many iOM offices across different time zones to program the software needed by the client. Today's technology makes it possible for iOM software teams to be dispersed throughout the world and still succeed in developing a high quality product.

Benefits of off-site development by iOM can be significant:

  • Substantially reduced costs: Programming costs can be cut dramatically since programmers and developers are less expensive when outsourced; such cost savings will become increasingly important for a company to stay competitive.

  • Increase in staff more affordable: Because of lower labor costs, a company can afford to hire a larger programming staff to bring product to market faster or produce more products.

  • Higher quality product: When software development costs are lower, companies can afford to take more time with testing and fixes, creating a higher quality product and enhancing the company's position in the marketplace.

  • Staff availability: Highly experienced and well-trained staff are more readily available when outsourced.

  • Expediting product to market: If software development is done overseas, the process can sometimes continue around the clock, with one team working while teams in other time zones are asleep. The ability to break the paradigms of the time and location can result in the product to be brought to the market more quickly.
